Welcome!

So this is hopefully my last and final attempt at creating a blog this year.  I knew I'd have to wait till Summer started and school was out.  I have only two weeks left of testing, and then I'm home free for two months.

I have been racking my brain to figure out what exactly I would blog about.  Even before my husband and I got married, he told me I should create a blog and call it "domesti-Kate".  How clever he is.  :)  He recognized my love for cooking, crafts, and homey type things.  So here it is... almost one year later.

To start things off, J and I just moved from an apartment to a home.  Finally!  Our dear dear Moses has been in desperate need of a backyard, and J's allergies have been in desperate need of some hardwood floors.  We moved the remaining boxes over the weekend, cleaned, and are waiting to do a walk through and turn in our old keys, and it feels soooo good.

No more crazy parking lot neighbors.  No more carpet.  No more mean landlords.  No more stairs.

I am in love with our new place.  It is twice as roomy as our apartment.  The neighbors are great.  I feel like I'm on Hill St. in Athens.  And, our new best friends just moved right down the street.  We still have several boxes left to unpack, closets to organize, and items to set aside for our upcoming yard sale (more of this to come), but here are a few of my favorites:

The kitchen was the first room to be organized.  :)  I love that I now have a kitchen window sill for plants and nick-knacks.

Meet Owlivia -- a Christmas present from J.  He found it at Agora, my favorite thrift/vintage store in Athens.  She will greet you at the front door.

We love our screened in porch so much that we eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner out here.  I'm designating this chair as my "blog chair".  (Sorry for the dark photo.  I don't have a fancy camera.)

And we have a peach tree in our front yard!

If anyone knows how to rid squirrels from stealing them from us or if you know how to prune a peach tree, please let me know asap.  I'd greatly appreciate it.

That is all for now.  The boxes of junk on my dining room table are calling my name...
